I decided to create this blog because historical research and writing are my passions—and as they say, “Do what you love!”
I have deep family ties to Norway. My grandpa, Rolf, has led an amazing life spanning 95 years and is a tremendous inspiration to me. He was born in Norway, grew up as a child under German occupation during World War II, and immigrated to America on his honeymoon in 1954. He built a prosperous life for himself and my grandmother, Unni, in the Seattle, Washington, area.
A few years ago, I began writing down his memories and stories, and that opened a door for me. It inspired me to explore the history, customs, and culture of Norway—and to share the fascinating stories I discover along the way.
I graduated from Washington State University with a bachelor’s degree in social science and a minor in history. I later graduated from nursing school, but I quickly realized that writing and traveling were how I wanted to spend my life.
I currently live on the beautiful Puget Sound with my husband and our two adult sons. Every morning, you’ll find me in my favorite chair, laptop at the ready, coffee and kitty beside me, working away on my latest article.
